I have been traveling almost annually in England or Scotland as a tourist for the last 25 years, so I know quite a bit about train travel, car rental, B&Bs, tourist discounts, standard tourist sites, good places to eat, pubs, prices, and things to do off

Question
My husband & I will be arriving at Heathrow airport and will need to see about transportation to Harwich for a cruise. Please advise about a bus or train.  Thanks

Answer
As you probably know, Heathrow Airport is west of London, and Harwich is some distance east.

You can get a private transfer, which is the easiest.  Try Ray's London-Transfers.com or Airport Transfer Service. com.  Find them online and get a price for the transfer.

The cheapest way to make the transfer is to take a National Express bus (or even the London Underground)  to central London, and then make a train connection from Liverpool Station to Harwich port.  A quicker way to central London is the Heathrow Express train, which takes fifteen minutes to Paddington Station.  But then you need a taxi to Liverpool Station, and then the train to Harwich.

If I had to make the transfer immediately upon arrival in London, I would take Ray's Transfer.  He charges by the car, not the person.  I personally would spend the money rather than try to make that complex trip after a long plane ride.

Rather than that, why not stay a night or two in London, and then take the train to Harwich?

I do not know the extent of your budget.  Think it over, and ask a follow up question.  Have a great trip.

Ed
