Question
WHATS A REASONABLE WAY TO GET FROM HEATHROW 5 TO GATWICK NORTH. ANY IDEA OF COST. 4 OF US WILL TRAVEL TO ITALY VIA BA IN EARLY SEPT.

Answer
The most practical, direct way to get between Heathrow and Gatwick is to take the shuttle bus/coach that goes directly between these terminals.  Purchase tickets at Heathrow T5 (Ground level, after exiting immigration/customs).  If you are flying British Airways (and perhaps others), show your tickets to get the best fare.  Bus leaves frequently and takes between 1 hour and 1 hr 20min, depending upon time of day.  The regular fare is a hefty £29.

The other option is to book an airport car service.  This might be close in cost for a party of 4. Possibilities:

Keep in mind that you need at 3 (preferably 4) hours between flight arrival at LHR and departure from LGW.  That makes the "cheap" option almost un-doable because can take much longer, and it has lots of room for logistical errors.  But here it is:

London Underground from Heathrow to Victoria Rail station (changes required).  Then train to  Gatwick Airport.

I've never tried it, because my time is usually limited when switching airports in London.

I hope this helps.  You can email me directly at:
