Britain/United Kingdom/England/How to Legally Move To England

Question
So I will be Turning 18 in a few months, and it has always been my dream to go to England, if not move there for good.  I know I can get a 6 month permit to stay if I'm just visiting, but, what reason would I have to give in order to be legally allowed to move to England?  Do I have to go as a student, because I was thinking of studying photography over there?  How would that work out? How would I be able to get a job if I was or wasn't a student? Nothing on the internet seems to really be answering by questions. maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Vanessa

This is a bit out of my experience but I think there is a reciprocal agreement between the US and UK which means that you can come here for work experience or as a student - I'm not sure how it works but if you look on the home office website here in the UK that may help. There is also the BUNAC scheme which i think works both ways so may be worth looking at.

hope that helps

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
