Answer
Wow...both the castle and the yurting center look wonderful for families.  I would be interested in hearing your experiences after your trip.  (email direct:  mail@KidsToLondon.com)

Burton does have the advantage of having numerous hotels, B&Bs, etc. Nearby Stowe-in-the-Wold is similar.  But both attract crowds during the day.  But then, you could say that about most of the traditional Cotswold towns (Broadway, Evesham, etc.)  Some of the smaller--even tiny--villages are less crowded--perhaps Stanton, Winchcombe and towns just west of Burton.  But I do not have a recommendation for family accommodations in the other areas.   I would suggest Chipping Campden, but it is a bit further north, and it is almost as popular with day visitors as Burton.

If you are exploring during the day and returning to your hotel/B&B in the evenings, then Burton will be fine.  The tour buses don't stay late.  It doesn't take long to get away from the crowds:  Wick Rissington, for example, is just a mile or so from Burton.  It is tiny, very quiet, and very rural.  There's not much to see there, but it is uncrowded when Burton is busy.

Sorry, I don't have the perfect suggestion for a family-friendly place to stay outside of Burton.

I hope you have a great trip,

Dave
