Question
A friend of mine from abroad will be here on Monday night.

Apart from dinner, could you pls suggest what I can do to show him?

We don't want to go to nightclubs or bars.

My sincere thanks,

Answer
Happy to help!

I'd start with a London tour bus which run every few minutes - seeing the city at night is great, as there's less traffic and the guides seem to relax a little. You'll get a great tour - and probably learn a lot yourself!

Then go to the South Bank and get  "flight" on the London Eye, combined with a ticket for a boat ride on the Thames - if you go to the London Eye site now you can book these in advance - get a "combination ticket" for the best price. Get off at Greenwich, have dinner - from very cheap to very expensive - and take the boat back to Central London.

Enjoy!

Expertise

As a full time, UK based, travel journalist, I travel almost constantly around the whole of the UK, searching out restaurants, hotels and "must see" places. Visitors for both business and pleasure are welcome to ask questions. I almost always travel by public transport, so questions on rail, air and coach / bus travel are also very welcome. I also regularly write about and use the "Eurostar" rail service between London and Continental Europe - which uses a tunnel under the English Channel - so I am able to help with any questions there, too.
