Britain/United Kingdom/England/Uig, Skye to Belfast

Question
Greetings from NY! I am going to be in Uig, Skye this August - and from there going to Belfast. Is there any way to do this all by water ? If not, I don't seem to be able to make connections to do this all in one day. I seem to have to get to Glasgow and was then going to take the bus to Stranraer , ferry it over and bus into Belfast. Is Troon an option for the ferry also? Please help me I am going mad trying to figure this out!

Answer
Smashing idea, Gail, but no, sorry.

You will have to go by bus from Uig to Portree and then on to Glasgow, then take the bus or train down to Troon and catch the catamaran to Larne which is about 10 miles from Belfast.  That is with P&O Irish Seas.

Stena Lines go from Stranraer direct to the centre of Belfast, so that might be more suitable.  Train down from Glasgow.

It is a lovely idea, island hopping down from Skye to Tiree and Mull and Iona and Colonsay and Islay and......

Oh well.

Good luck,
