Britain/United Kingdom/England/Lodging in London

QuestionHi,
I am 48 yr old female American traveling with my best friend to visit her son who is attending the London School of Economics. We will be in London from April 13-21 2006. We are looking for a nice place to stay with 2 separate beds. We are used to traveling in comfort but the prices in London are very high we could use some help.We are able to budget up to about 200.00 or so U.S. dollars per night
Can you give us any suggestions.?
We also would like to have some typical English experiences, but the only one I can think of is "tea". Where would you suggest a great afternoon tea and what other ideas do you have for a first and possibly only trip to London?
AnswerHi,
I know you will enjoy your visit to london.
There are many sites to find hotels in London-- www.hotel-assist.com, Visitbritain.com,Octopustravel and many more. I believe the area you want to stay in will determine the cost.I like close areas like Mayfair Soho, Marble Arch, West End Bloomsbury etc.Kensington is also popular. One may find a great hotel in London at a good price is by using Priceline .com. To find out more info about bidding try going to Biddingfortravel.com.
I recommend tea at the Orangery in Kensington Palace. This is where Princess Diana lived. One can also go to the Ritz or to a department store such as Harrods or Fortrum and Mason.
I believe that many London hotels often come with twin beds.
Here are some hotels you might like to look into- The Rembrandt Hotel, The Bonnington Hotel.
Have fun...
