Where can a family of five stay in London? Hotels appear to only cater for families of four

I recognise the problem you face, having grown up in a larger family, but I'm afraid don't personally know of any hotels which offer larger family accommodation that I could recommend first-hand.
I would recommend visiting the London Tourist Board website at www.visitlondon.com . They will be able to advise on accommodation such as family apartments. You can see some of those mentioned here on their website:

In addition, their accommodation search at
http://www.visitlondon.com/accommodation/
allows you to enter your travel dates and indicate that you are a family with 3 children, and will then show you available accommodation for your needs.
