Question
Graham,
you've given me some valuable information.  I believe I'll go with the Heathrow Express.  I'm guessing I'll have about two hours to visit.  I don't need more than that.

One quick follow-up.  It was recommended that I try some fish n chips.  Given my proximity to Paddington or St Pauls, do you have any suggestions?

You say an hour by tube if Terminal 1, 2 or 3.  I fly into Terminal 4 at 11:00 and depart Terminal 1 at 16:00?

Question -
I am flying into Heathrow at 11:00.  I would like to get to St. Paul's for a quick visit before boarding a flight at Heathrow at 16:00.

Given my time constraint, I'd like to know the best transportation option.  I've looked into Airbus, tube, taxi and Heathrow Express and am looking for the best combinaiton of cost, quickness and ease of use.

Kind Regards.

Hi there

Well the quickest option is the heathrow Express to Paddington but then you would need to take the tube. It is the most expensive (apart from a taxi) but would maximise your time - and is also the quickest way of getting back too if you are in a hurry!

The bus will take you to Kings Cross/Russell Square but costs more than the tube and takes longer..

Cheapest/fastest combo would be tube to central London - all you have to do is take the tube to Holborn and then change to the central line for St Pauls - that would be about an hour providing it is terminal 1, 2 or 3 you are coming in to.

If you are rushed why not take the tube in and then take the Heathrow Express back if you run out of time?

Hope this helps

Hi there

A problem then. the tube station is closed for refurbishment at Terminal 4. You would have to take a shuttle bus to Hatton Cross and pick up the tube there. This makes the journey much longer.

Howver you can get the heathrow express direct to paddington from there. It takes 15 mins to Paddington and I would allow another 30 mins to get from there to St Pauls.

If you are leaving via Terminal 1 then you could get the tube right back to there and thats about an hour from central london.

You will need to allow check in time at Terminal 1 though wont u? Maybe the Heathrow Express might be the best option - even if expensive it would help you maixmise your time in town

Hi there

Am coming up blank on this one - problem being St Paul's is in the centre of a business area so the best you will find will be fat cat restaurants or tourist pubs...

Best to have a scout around in that area as the only fish and chip places I know are in central London a tube ride away.

Enjoy!
