i am a young american student who is moving to london in
May of 2005 for school. I have no idea as to how to go
about getting my visa or passport or anything about that.
What do i need? how do I do it? Also, I dont know much
about the apartment rentals there either..How much i s a
cheap place? Can i find a roomate anywhere on a particular
website that pertains to that place? Any info is helpful, and
appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
This is a very wide question!

If you have registered fro school then they should be able to tell you how to go about getting the necessary visa - if yoiu need one (depending on your age and length of stay) they will have to supply you with proof of status for you to be eligible to enter the country.

They should alo be able to help you with accomodation depending on where you are to be sited in London.

The local newspaper here - The Evening Standard has rooms availibale in shared accomodation. You could also contact the University of London as they halp to place many students. There are also hostels for students throughout London - I suggest you find out first from your school whee you will be and sort out the Visa if you need one. Then ask them what they can offer and then try looking on the internet for stident accomodation in London.

Hope this helps

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
