Question
I have grown tired of staying at the Royal National and President hotels.  Can you suggests some budget priced smaller hotels in the area?  I must say that I do like a private bathroom and a television in the room.

Answer
Not sure what to say as they are the obvious budget ones - although they are not very friendly looking.

There are a number of hotels on Montague Street beside the British Museum which I think are smaller. There is also the Staunton on Gower Street and others further up. Try
www.1000-hotels.co.uk/london/gower-street.html or www.1000-hotels.co.uk/london/montague-street.html.

I do not however think that smaller will always mean as cheap but they should have similar facilities... The Montague on Montague Street looks nice from outside.

I once stayed at the Euston Plaza near the station but that was very bland and corporate too!

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
