Britain/United Kingdom/England/Relocating

Question
Hello Graham,
Myself and my three other band members are looking to
relocate to the UK.  We plan on playing music in pubs all
over London and aren't quite sure what areas we should
start looking at to rent a furnished flat.  We need a place
economical, close to the tube, not in a real bad part of
town, etc.  What do you suggest?  Also, I am currently
looking at various sites for employment.  We would like to
relocate already having a few months paid ahead for a flat,
and have tentative part time jobs lined up.  Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Leslie

Answer
Dear Leslie

This is a bit outside my experience but I would think you would get most work either in central London or around areas such as Camden which is slightly north of the centre.

In terms of accomodation this means it will be slightly more expensive but of course you will not have to pay as much in travel.

I'm sorry not to be more helpful but if you look at the London magazine Time Out  - this has all the music listings for London on a week to week basis so would give you an idea of the major locations. You could then look up the estate agents or lettings agents in those areas online and see what they offer in terms of accomodation.

Let me know if there is anything more specific I can help with!

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
