Britain/United Kingdom/England/TRANSPORTATION FROM LONDON

Question
Hello.
I need to get from London (possibly Heathrow) to Leicester without a car. I will be traveling from the US later this month. What transportation options do I have to go to Leicester from London (i.e. train, bus, TUBE, taxi, etc.) that is probably the least expensive. I don't know much of how the UK works in terms of transportation. Thank you. BJ

Answer
BJ,

You can get from London's St. Pancras rail station to Leicester in about 2 hours by train--about 3 hours when you add the Express from Heathrow to Paddington rail station, the transfer to the London Underground, and the trip to St. Pancras rail station in London. The train fare ranges from about £50-70 depending upon routing, time, class and available discounts.   For rail schedules:

For fares and possible ticket purchases:

The same journey (Heathrow to Leicester) by bus (coach) will take 3 to 4 hours and cost about £30--less if you qualify for a discount fare.  For details:

I hope this is helpful.  Feel free to email me if you have more questions:
