Britain/United Kingdom/England/Travel to Edinburgh

Question
My daughter and friend will be staying in Millom.  They are trying to find rail timetables  for train from Millom to Edinburgh, either thru Barrow-In-Furness or Carlisle.  Can you advise where we can find that kind of schedule?  They will be staying one overnite in Edinburgh before returning to Millom.  Will have Britrail pass.  Just cannot find out if such a trip is possible from Millom to Edinburgh and then return.
Last - when they arrive in Edinburgh, is there a service to find available room at Hotel or B&B?  They are not certain of the day they will be going at this moment.
Thank you in advance,   Wes.

Answer
Hi Wes,

To buy train trickets in the UK, go to

http://www.thetrainline.com

There is a train at 12:01 which, with a change at Carlisle, arrives in Edinburgh at 16:54.  Not fast, but Millom is remote.  Why are they staying there??  There are two other departures one before, one after.  Travel time is between 4 and 5 hours, depending on the train.

A good site to find ccommodation of a good standard, at reasonable prices in Edinburgh (and around Scotland) is

I hope that answers your question.

Best Wishes,
