AboutEmoor Expertise I have been traveling almost annually in England or Scotland as a tourist for the last 25 years, so I know quite a bit about train travel, car rental, B&Bs, tourist discounts, standard tourist sites, good places to eat, pubs, prices, and things to do off
Question Hi,
I am Stefania, from Italy. I am planning to visit England during next year holidays (August).
I will do this trip with my husband,we are young (about 27 years old), and we would like to come to england by our car.
We would like to sleep in B&B.
As it is possible we would like to see the most important things all around england.
I am not interested only in visitin big cities, but also english countryside, little towns near the sea(example cornwall)etc..
I don't know very well england and we have just two weeks to do this trip, so I want to plan everything.
I know I can't see everything in few days, so I have to make a selection.
So could you suggest me many places you think could be interesting to see, and maybe many good B&B?
Answer I do not recommend taking your car. In England, they drive on the left side of the road, using cars with right-hand drive. A European left-hand-drive car will be very difficult to operate on English roads. In London, you will not want a car at all because parking is impossible or very expensive, and all the one-way streets are confusing. Find a good way to get to England, and then rent a car to visit small countryside villages.
To find a good B&B, go to the tourist information office in any small town. They will recommend a B&B in your price range, probably show you a picture, book a room from the tourist office, and give you directions.
Cornwall is a beautiful place to visit, but quite distant from London and southeast England where you will arrive. If you have time it is worth the trip, but many areas of southeast England are quite charming and much easier and cheaper to visit.
England is full of wonderful places to visit, but which ones to choose depends more on your personal interests. Get a small quidebook and look for interesting things to see and do. Do the ones that appeal to you -- there are far too many things to see them all in a short visit. You must decide to leave many things unvisited, and that should be your personal choice. If you find some interesting things, let me know and I can suggest others related to your personal interests.
