AboutEmoor Expertise I have been traveling almost annually in England or Scotland as a tourist for the last 25 years, so I know quite a bit about train travel, car rental, B&Bs, tourist discounts, standard tourist sites, good places to eat, pubs, prices, and things to do off
I'm a Malaysian student who would like to visit my brother who is staying in UK next January. My flight would land in London Gatwick airport & my brother is staying in Aberden, Scotland. I would like to ask few questions here:-
1. What is the cheapest and best way for me to travel from London Gatwick Airport to Aberdeen, Scotland?
2. How much it will cost if I take the train and how long is the journey? From which station (nearest to London Gatwick Airport), I should take the train and where I shall stop my journey (nearest to Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen, Scotland)? How often is the train and how could I travel from London Gatwick Airport to my departure railway station? How much it would cost?
3. How much it will cost if I take the bus and how long is the journey? From which station(nearest to London Gatwick Airport), I should take the bus and where I shall stop my journey (nearest to Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen, Scotland)? How oftenis the bus and how could I travel from London Gatwick Airport to my departure bus station? How much it would cost?
4. Am I eligible to get any discounts for my ticket since I'm a student & holding the International Student Card.
For your kindness in voluntaringly helping me, I would like to end with millions of thanks.
Answer I apologize for the delay in answering your question. I had computer problems that took some time to repair.
There is a train from the Gatwick train station adjacent to the airport which gets you to King's Cross. Trains from King's Cross go to Edinburgh, and then on to Aberdeen. The entire trip will be 6-10 hours. There are some flights that take much less time, and do not cost much more. Explore British Midlands airline.
When you get to Gatwick, go to the Information desk just inside the train station which is just off the airport terminal. They will give you times, prices, and directions. They will also give you discounts if available.
Generally buses are cheaper, but take much longer. If you have plenty of time but not much money, this may be your best alternative.
