Question
Hi Graham,

we are wondering what your opinion is of a stay in kings cross versus bloomsbury.  At this time we have a reservation at kingscross holiday inn (we are a family of four).  We have an opportunity to stay at the George Hotel in Bloomsbury (smaller with less leisure features such as a pool).  We will need public transportation so would like to be close to the tube.  Would love an apartment but all seem to be unaffordable.  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

Answer
Dear Joy

I would not recommend the Holiday Inn as it is long walk to the tube and is also in an area that is very deserted at night.

I dont know how much it costs but the St Giles Hotel is very central and gives you access to the YMCA gym and pool.

Also I would recommned for location the Royal National, Jurys on Great Russell Street and the Russell Hotel on Russell Square.

Bloomsbury is much nicer than Kings Cross!

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
