Question
Hi there, we are a family of 4 - 2 sons aged 15 from New Zealand, we intend on driving from London to Edinburgh abotut 23rd of December and are wondering where a resonable yet interesting place to stay for one night on the way would be? any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Answer
Hi,

Depending upon your route, a stop at York would be a good choice.  This is a walled medieval city, about halfway between London and Edinburgh.  Lots to see:  Viking Museum, York Minster (cathedral), train/transport museum, city walls, etc.

Don't have a specific suggestion for accomodations in York, but you might check TripAdvisor.com for other input.  Suggest staying in the central city area and exploring on foot.

Hope this is helpful.
