Question
Graham- My last questions may have been a bit vague.  Sorry about that.  Let me try again.

I will be staying at Alhambra Hotel located in King Cross 12/25, 26 & 1/5 & 6.

I am interested in the following:

A good "Jack the Ripper Tour"-- along with directions for such from Kings Cross.

Directions to Harrod's from Kings Cross.
Directions to Notting Hill from Kings Cross.
Directions to Covent Garden from Kings Cross.
Directions and means of transportation from Heathrow to Kings Cross.

Any suggestions on a nice afternoon tea & snacks and directions to such place.

Any suggestions on budget meals, especially in the Kings Cross area.

thank you soooo much,

Natalie

Answer
Dear Natalie

there is NO public transport on December 25th and most places are closed including restaurants shops and cinemas etc

if you look on the London Transport website they will have more details and can tell you how to get to all your places from Kings Cross when the tube is running

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl

Jack the Ripper not sure - I would try a google search but doubt they will be running on any of the dates you mention

I think most stores will be open again on the 26th

Restaurants in that area will be closed i would think and Kings Cross is not really known for its cuisine.

Nearest places I can recommend would be Hare and Tortoise in Brunswick Square (Pan Asian) and Poons on Montague Place(Chinese)

There are lots of places on Southampton Row down from Russell Square but not sure what will be open..

Hope this helps

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
