I have been traveling almost annually in England or Scotland as a tourist for the last 25 years, so I know quite a bit about train travel, car rental, B&Bs, tourist discounts, standard tourist sites, good places to eat, pubs, prices, and things to do off

Britain/United Kingdom/England - travel to bath from Waterloo Station

Expert: Emoor - 10/16/2006

Question
We will be riding the Eurostar to Waterloo Station.  Arrival time is about 4:30PM.  We have rented a car and planned to drive to Bath.  We have been told that it would be much easier to take a train to Readington station and then rent a car.  We have never driven in England and have been told driving in London can be confusing.  Can we get a train to Readington Station from Waterloo Station?  Can we rent a car in Readington Station?
Thank You very much for your help.
Linda Todd

Answer
For some reason your question from the far past did not come to my attention, so this response may be far too late.  Yes, you can take a train to Reading (not Readington).  From there you actually would be well to take the train on to Bath and rent your car there.  Sorry for the delay.
