Question
I am a 41 year old college student studying history, and I am having trouble finding the answer to something. I have a text book but there are pages missing. If you like either give me the name or at least give me something to research. I have tried typing in the question directly plus I have tried key words main promoters of the British colonizing Africa. It is an on-line class and open book on all tests. Here is the Question----Who was the missionary who encouraged Europeans to introduce the "THREE C's"?

Answer
Hello Robin.
The three Cs; Christianity, Commerce and Civilization, was a motto of the London Missionary Society and was coined by the missionary John Williams in 1837. He only travelled to the South Pacific, but the most famous exponent of the creed in Africa was David Livingstone.
