Question
why was Locarno treaty a success of the British diplomacy?

Answer
Hello M,

Wikipedia has a brief but interesting article on the subject:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locarno_Treaty

I think that Locarno was  a British success because of the securities placed on the borders of Poland.  Britain was a guarantor of Poland's boundaries, so getting the other nations to agree to its sovereignty meant that British diplomacy remained the strongest in Europe, if not the world.

Expertise

I am knowledgeable about English history from about 1400 to 1688, and then from the reign of Victoria (after 1837). I have a particular interest in the monarchy and dynastic relations of Europe from 1800 onwards. I cannot answer questions regarding the latter Stuarts, the early Hanovers, and the politics of the 18th century.
