Answer
Hello Sunny.
Do you mean his ranks in the Army and his jobs in government ?
He joined the 4th Hussars as a 2nd Lt in 1895 and served in India, the Sudan and South Africa. He transferred to the South African Light Horse in 1900. He retired later that year, but joined the Yeomanry (the early 20th century equivalent on the Territorials) in 1902 as a Captain in the Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars, being promoted to Major in 1905. During a break in his political career he joined the Royal Scots Fusiliers as a Colonel 1915-16 and saw active service on the Western Front. After 1916 he held many honorary ranks in the Army, but was never a Regular.
His political career began with his winning a seat as MP in 1900 and apart from a year 1923-24 he remained an MP until 1964.
He held many Cabinet Offices, the most important being :
President of the Board of Trade 1908-10.
Secretary of State for the Home Department 1910-11.
First Lord of the Admiralty 1911-15 and 1939-40.
Minister of Munitions 1917-19.
Secretary of State for War and Secretary of State for Air 1919-21.
Secretary of State for the Colonies 1921-22.
Chancellor of the Exchequer 1924-29.
Prime Minister 1940-45 and 1951-55.
Minister of Defence 1940-45 and 1951-52.
