Question
Can you think where I could find out what the examinations were called in National Schools in England, 1841?  Especially for 13 year olds.

Answer
Hello Elizabeth.
Social history isn't my strong point, but from what little information I have it seems that there were no examinations in National Schools in the 1840s. Children were taught to read and write and little else. They tended to leave school around the age of 12 to go to work.
If you type in National Society for the Education of the Poor you'll be directed to a number of useful websites.

I have a good basic knowledge of British political history, but my speciality is the Kings and Queens of England and Scotland from 927 AD. Please no social history questions, it's not my strong point and I'm unlikely to answer them.
