British History/Queen Boudicca
Expert: Malcolm Speechley - 11/7/2011
QuestionIs there any evidence to indicate the names of Boudicca's daughters? Did she have more than the 2 daughters who were raped? So far I have found various names (Julia, Heanua, Lannosea, Camorra, Tasca, Brigit), but no evidence to support the claims.
Is there any evidence to indicate whether these daughters were married, and to whom?
I have found a website
http://www.missouri-mule.com/ancientkingsofireland.html#Family:%20Fearadhach%20F
which provides the information that one Aedd Mawr, King of Britain, d. 34, married Caer/Cesair/Caesara, daughter of Julius Caesar and Cordelia verch Llyr/Lear. According to this site, 'it has been conjectured that Aedd Mawr is the "barbarian king" whom Antonia, daughter of Mark Anthony, divorced to marry Pytho of Tralles'.
The same site claims that a daughter of Prasutagus and Boudicca married Fearadhach Finnfeachtnach.
Can I believe any of it??
Cheers!

AnswerHello Daisy
Much of what is written about boudicca is myth and Legend. There are in fact on three genuine historical sources which mention her. These are the Roman historians Dio Cassius, Tacitus and (a brief mention) by Suetonius.
None of these Sources give a name for Boudicca's daughters nor do they mention that they were married. It is unlikely that these girls were married as no husbands are mentioned and they appeared to be living under the Guardianship of their mother.
Tacitus mentions explicitly mentions that his two daughters were made co-heirs of his territory along with Rome. There is absolutely no reason to suppose that any other daughters existed.
The site you mentioned appears to deal with wholly mythological stories and has very little historical value.
Below I have provided links to online copies of the sources I mentioned above.
I hope you find this helpful.

Malcolm.
