Question
QUESTION: Is Margery Wyatt, wife of Thomas (John) Rogers, mother of John the Martyr Rogers, the same Margery Wyatt that married Sir Anthony Lee and is the daughter of Sir Henry Lee, and is the supposed Maid in Waiting to Anne Boleyn?

My confusion lies in that Margery Wyatt Rogers birth date is 1490 and her supposed mother, Anne Skinner, did not get married until 1502 and her siblings are born after that.

ANSWER: Hello Mark.
They are two different people. Margery Wyatt who married Sir Anthony Lee was of a gentry family from Kent. The other Margery Wyatt came from the Birmingham area and was from an altogether lowlier background. Margery Wyatt Lee's mother was Anne Skinner.

QUESTION: Thank you very much.  Is there a source that I can find for the Birmingham Margery?  Of course, now I have to go change out a WHOLE lot of family tree.......

Answer
Hello Mark.
That will be very difficult. Coming from an ordinary background and from a time before parish registers were introduced, it will be virtually impossible to find out anything on her ancestors. Before the 1530s only the landed classes had any record of their lives for us to consult today. I had a quick look around the web and there are several family history sites with members who've traced their ancestry back to John Rogers, so perhaps they might have some information going back even further, but most begin with John Rogers.
