Question
Hi Malcolm,

Do you know what the ice-age British people were known as?

Answer
Hello Chris

At the time of the last Ice age Much of what was to become the island of Britain (It was not yet an Island being still joined to mainland Europe at this time) was covered in Glaciers and that part which was exposed was to cold for any kind of permanent Habitation.

The area, however, Quickly became recolonized after the ice began to recede. Obviously there are no written records from this time so the name given to the inhabitants, is that coined by modern archeologists.

This name was derived from remains excavated and Cheddar Gorge. The inhabitants are therefore generally referred to as 'Cheddar Man'

I hope you have found this Helpful

Regards

Malcolm.
