Hello Frank.
Abbas Effendi was born Abbas Baha in Iran in 1844. He was the founder of the Bahai religion. Effendi means Lord or Master in Arabic. He travelled in Europe and North America between 1910 and 1913 preaching his new faith. During WW I he lived in British administered Palestine and it was for his humanitarian work during the War that he was knighted in 1920. He died a year later in 1921 aged 77.
