British History/Castle Camelot

Question
Hey,

I'm hoping you're the right person to ask, if not, then I'm sorry.
My question would be as follows:
Assuming King Arthur did exist, could you provide a somewhat exact birthdate?
I'm doing some research for a story and I don't wanna risk building my imaginary castle right over Camelot. ;o)

Grreetzz & thanx,
- Eddie

Answer
Hello Eddie.
It's a matter of opinion as to whether King Arthur actually existed. My own view is that he did not, the figure we know of as King Arthur is an amalgam of several pre-Saxon kings who fought against the invading Angles and Saxons. If he did exist then he would have been around at the end of the 5th century and the beginning of the 6th, so a birthdate of about 460-470 would be a good guess.
