Question
When was the (dona kabab) introduced to England and why is it called the dona Kabab.Thankyou.

Answer
Hello Man Tan,

I know very little about the history of food, and I did not even know what a dona kabab is (we call it by its Greek name -- gyro -- here in the US).  I don't like to leave you without some sort of answer, so I found these food Web sites:

http://www.foodtimeline.org/
http://www.arts.adelaide.edu.au/centrefooddrink/
http://www.gol27.com/HistoryFood.html

These sites allow you to ask questions, so you may find your answer here.  Your local library should have a decent collection on the history of food, so you may find your answer there.  Ask a Reference Librarian for assistance.

Expertise

I am knowledgeable about English history from about 1400 to 1688, and then from the reign of Victoria (after 1837). I have a particular interest in the monarchy and dynastic relations of Europe from 1800 onwards. I cannot answer questions regarding the latter Stuarts, the early Hanovers, and the politics of the 18th century.
