how has royalty shaped London? and what was/is the architecture of Buckingham Palace like?

Hello Mandy.
The Royal Family over the centuries have had a great effect on the history and appearance of London. The large number of palaces and other residences are the most famous buildings in the capital. Also most of the larger parks in the city were once Royal parks or hunting grounds. Westminster and the political district of Whitehall owe their existence to that area of London being chosen by the Saxon Kings nearly 1000 years ago as the cente of government. Many of the wide streets were built with Royal patronage.
