Question
Please can you tel me why henry V111 was  so fat and unhappy in later life?

Answer
Hello Patrick. Like many people Henry put on weight as he got older, he liked his food and often sat down to huge banquets. Also he suffered a leg injury when he was about 45 which restricted his movement.
His unhappiness was largely due to his paranoia. Having only one son to succeeed him he was prone to fears of plots and intrigues against him. He had several distant relatives executed on the slightest evidence believing they were plotting to seize the throne. Also the behaviour of two of his wives; Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard, made him suspicious of almost everyone at Court.
