Question
In london 1600 what are some of the major events that occured during this time

Answer
Hello Josh.
The most important series of events in 1600 surrounded the Queen's favourite, the Earl of Essex. In 1599 he had been sent to Ireland to subdue the rebellion there. But his campaign was a disaster and in October 1599 he returned unannounced to England. Queen Elizabeth was so outraged at his desertion of his duties that she ordered him to be placed under house arrest. In February 1600 she was on the verge of having him tried for treason, but was persuaded otherwise at the last minute. In June she had all his high offices and stripped from him and withdrew his right to the customs duties on wine imports which had been his main source of income. She released Essex from house arrest in August, but refused to restore his Court or public offices. But the damage had been done and it led to Essex's rebellion early in 1601.
1600 was also the most likely year for the first performance of Shakespeare's play "As You Like It" at the Globe Theatre.
