Question
Can you please tell me what is the origin of the place-name  Sixbells  near Abertillery, Gwent, South Wales?
Regards.

Answer
Hello Ken.
I've had a look at an Abertillery community website and it says that Six Bells is probably named after the Six Bells Inn that stood there long before the village grew up around it. There is a Six Bells Hotel standing today which is probably built on the site of the old inn.
The inn took it's name from the church bells in nearby Abertillery which would have been within earshot as I don't think there was a chapel in the village that long ago.
