Question
how were sir francis walsingham's spies trained?

Answer
Hello Kat Li.
Walsingham's spies were not specially trained as such. They were usually recruited to penetrate Catholic organizations, to become a trusted confidant and report back what they heard. Walsingham had these spies in most of the Catholic Courts in Europe. Many were Catholics themselves persuaded to become spies by the lure of money and reward. They needed no real training to do this, other than an ability to watch and listen and keep their true purposes secret.
