Question
Mr. Priddle:  Greetings from America.  Having lived and gone to school in England several years ago, I love all things British!  My question is in regards to the great Mollie Sugden.  I know that she has had a long career, but what awards has she won?  Has she ever been granted a title by the Queen as so many British actors and entertainers are?  She certainly has brought a lot of joy into my life from watching her antics on "Are You Being Served?". I have an address for her.  Would it be proper for me to write to her and tell her how much I have enjoyed her work, or is that just a thing we rude Americans do?  Thank you for your time.  I am delighted to have found this website.

Answer
Hello Hugh,

As far as I am aware, Mollie Sugden's only award has been her guaranteed place in the hearts of British comedy fans, thanks to her tremendous contributions and memorable characterisations in various programmes over the past forty years.

I am quite sure that it would be completely proper for you to write to her and it would not be interpreted as a "rude American" gesture. Everbody in Showbiz likes to be appreciated and that's the same the World over.
