Question
Francis Lynch,

Hello Francis:

I'm an american playwright and have co-authored a play titled "Super Fishbowl Sunday" with the late Reinaldo Povod who wrote "Cuba & His Teddy Bear" which starred Robert DeNiro on Broadway. I was wondering if you could suggest a theater or a place to research British Theaters that might be interested in an American play. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Richard Barbour

Answer
The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester:

Royal Exchange Theatre

Have done several American plays in their recent history. The main house is; In the Round,
and the much smaller studio space is a flexible format. They have done several of the European premieres of Brad Fraser's plays ( I know hes Canadian, but it sort of counts...)

The Artistic Director is called Braham Murray
Joint Artistic Director is Greg Hersov
Literary Director (I think that is her title..check) is Jo Coombes.

You should also consider the obvious big boys as well;  The R.S.C. and the National, both of which have literary departments,  another good contact would be Jude Kelly, who is the Artistic Director of the South Bank Complex in London. She is also the Artistic Director for the next four years of the Cultural Olympiad leading up to the games in 2012 and has commissioned several pieces for performance all over the country.

Hope some of this is helpful

Best wishes

Francis
