Broadcasting/Radio/TV Station or Network
Expert: Patrick J. Murray - 4/30/2011
QuestionDear Patrick:
I've been SAG/AFTRA since I was 10 years old. I am also a writer and wrote my first SAG Short. A couple of years ago, I was an on-air radio personality for Dream Center Radio, an Internet Radio Station with Live 360, but it closed. I actually enjoyed it and I now desire to have my own network and/or TV-Radio station. My budget is small. I have some videos up on You Tube. Please advise me how I should get started. I appreciate your help. My website is more-fire.com. Thank you so much
AnswerHey Stephaune....
Thanx for stopping by...I checked out your website and it looks pretty good! The question is how to do you go forward with this...
I understand your desire to continue the growth process here, but I am no totally sure what you would like to do. If it is your intention to move forward and own a network or begin a radio station, or even a web based scenario, you will need to have a few dollars to progress. On your site I see some pics and a few links to things, but you would really have to search to find it...I would be curious as to how many visitors you get in a day on that....
So my thought for is that you would almost need to find someone who can give you a leg up in your area - and I see you are in LA which is one of the entertainment capitals...You should be able to make some contacts and figure a plan as to how you can achieve your goals for setting up a network or a show.
There is sooooo much competition out there for you to start up BUT I always say that if you feel it is your calling you should pursue it full force! I would figure out a way where you can offer some sort of niche show - something that is happening now that you can take advantage of and lend your own personality to it. You need to see what others are doing and work around them blending your own special brand of entertainment to it. You have to survey your territory and know what will sell....if you stay in the crowd, your voice will not be heard!
So check around and it would be great if you stopped back to tell me how you are doing! Best of luck!
