Question
Hi Quinn pleased to meet you... could you give me some ideas about turning textures captured with a digital camera and then turned from .jpg to .bmp and then converted from there to what I assume is a .mat format to be used as a material in the material editor.
any initial suggestions would be most welcome,
        with regards tim

Answer
It's easy to map a texture to an object, and it doesn't involve creating a new material at all.  Just go into the materials editor and click the purple button in the top right hand corner (Texture Source Editor).  Use the Load button on the left image to load the bitmap, and click the black circle above the middle image to set the mask to All.  The result will show on the right.  Click OK, and then use the Texture button (green) to edit the position of the texture.  Then click OK again and render it.
