Bryce NP/What To See and Do
Expert: CmdrMark - 9/11/2000
QuestionWe will be traveling to several places in Utah soon, and one is Bryce. What do you recommend that we should be sure to see or do in Bryce? Thanks for your help! (We`re also going to Zion, Flaming Gorge, and Dinosaur--any recommendations for them?)
AnswerIn Zion:
They have instituted a tram/bus transport system in Zion since I was last there. I don't know if the system will be in effect when you visit.
I strongly recommend the "wet-foot" hike through the Virgin River at the end of the Riverside Walk. Emerald pools are also well worth a visit.
In Bryce:
This is the place for hiking and photography. The hoodoos change color depending on the time of day and the sun angle. I took the 2 hour horse ride and enjoyed it immensely. Star gazing is a great way to pass the night. Ever see the Milky Way? You will.
Also in the area:
Kodachrome Canyon and Grosvenor's Arch
The first was named by National Geographic for the awesome pictures which can be taken there; The second is really a rare double arch which photographs nicely with the cobolt blue skies behind.
