Buddhists/sociology ethnography

Question
Hi. I am currently a high school senior currently taking Sociology. For this class, I was assigned to conduct an ethnography, which is an in depth interview about someone from a different sub culture, group, or organization. And I have always been interested in learning about Buddhism and this project gives me the perfect opportunity to learn a bit more about it. I was wondering if you would be willing to be interviewed and giving me a better understanding about the theology behind Buddhism.

Please get back to me so I can continue my search for an interviewee.

Thanks!

Danielle Koch

Answer
Hi Danielle,
I don't know that I fit into some ethno-subculture since my background is Irish American and there are over 44 million of us in the US. As far as Zen goes it is not the mainstream practice of Buddhism in the world and does not have the ritual or traditions of many more widely practiced Buddhist sects. Also, it is not a theology.
If you still want to interview me, that's fine.  You can write me directly at:josmcsorley@yahoo.com

I can answer questions dealing with Taoist philosophy and Zen and not the historicity and religion of Buddhism and its different schools. I studied under Dr. Richard DeMartino and Masao Abe of the Kyoto School of Zen.
