Question
What sorts of things would Buddhists have in their houses and what are their significance?

Answer
Well looking around my house I have a washing machine, cooker,
tv, carpets,a small Buddha shrine.

As for the significance the Buddha shrine symbolizes our own awakened
nature. The carpets the base of good discipline of meditation,
the tv is the world of maya or illusion in which we normally live,
the cooker is the path of preparation, the washing machine is the
insight that comes from meditation that clarifies the mind,
