Question
Dear Laurie,
I am going to buy the DVD on Discovering Buddhism, now will this be sufficient or do I have to buy all the books? if I do are they available in a set? Many thanks.

Answer
Hello, Charmaine,

That is great that you are going to do the Discovering Buddhism series. I have taken three of the modules already from teachers here in California and I am sure you will get a lot out of it.

From what I have been able to find out, there are two ways to take the Discovering Buddhism At Home course.  One can take it just to learn about Buddhism and develop a practice with no certificate of completion.  Or one can also take it for a certificate of completion.  This certificate is helpful for proof of your completion of the modules. But is not necessary.

If you feel you wish to take it for a certificate of completion then there is extra reading required and you will be asked to acquire extra books. One can purchase these books or one can get them from the library. If you don't want to get the certificate of completion then no extra books are required. All you need to do is buy the DVD's.

I hope this answers you question. Don't hesitate to ask any future questions about this or any questions you might have as you go through the classes.

Namaste - Laurie
