Question
I just went through a difficult talk with my daughter.  Unfortunately things were not resolved like I had wished.  There is a lot of hurt and I would like to find a meditation that would enable healing to come and let go of that hurt.
Thank you for your willingness to help!!!

Answer
Hi Gwyneth,

Buddhist meditation is actually for training the mind to see the real perspective of the world so that with that understanding, the person is more able to live in peace and contentment amidst life's problems.  Buddhist meditation per se is not some tool that can help you "let go of hurt".

However with the understanding of the teachings of the Buddha, and earnest meditation practice, the person may be able to resolve or neutralize many problems.  I don't know how familiar you are with Buddhism.  The stereotyped answer would be to do Metta meditation, meditation of goodwill and loving kindness, especially towards the person concerned.

To be more practical, I think you have first to realize that having problems are quite "normal" in life.  Then you set about trying to solve them in the best manner you can.

Take care.
