QUESTION: You tell me to go to this wat to be a monk, but you dont tell me why. Can you explain all the reasons?

I am surprised you tell one in Bangkok, the city!

Regards,
Jake

ANSWER: There are not many temples in Thailand whose monks can speak English and have trained foreigners to be monks.  In fact, Wat Boworn, has a specific place that has people who experienced in teaching buddism to foreigners.  Otherwise, you would receive Thai instruction. You should go to countryside temple after you learn about monkhood from here to gain experience and GET A FEEL OF BEING A MONK BEFORE.

QUESTION: Hi,
Thanks for this advice. Being a first class royal temple, I would think the monk/s here are very good?
This is not the temple connected to kaosan rd, right? its a little further? I can sleep there right? and ordain? it shouldnt need too much time?
I know at wat wananachat it requires a lot of time! also, I know there is english instruction at Suan Mok, can you recommend it as having good teachers?
Thanks
Jake

Answer
Wat Borworn's monk is pretty good with respect to English command and knowledge both theory and practice.  But if you can go to Suan Mok, please go there.  I think it is a better place for new practitioners since it is remote from city.  Life there would enable you to concentrate on learning. Good luck.
