Question
Hi Alex, I am in secondry school and have to do a project as titled above. I would be grateful if you could  give me any info on how young buddhists view buddhism or any sites where I might get such information

Answer
Hi Mike,
I have to disappoint you - the whole picture is extremely varied; it depends on the place, on the particular tradition of Buddhism, not to mention the people themselves. Some are wildly enthusiastic, some are totally bored, some don't care a fig...
The centres I am involved with are all "voluntary", in the sense that most of the Buddhists were not born into Buddhist families; to that extent, they are not typical.
To get a meaningful answer, I think you would have to narrow your inquiry down and down: how do "young Buddhists" in xxx (town/city or similar) from families who attend a yyy (Theravada or Zen or Vajrayana or...) temple or centre view Buddhism? That, with enough work, *might* get you to an answer of sorts.
Good luck with the project!
Best wishes

Expertise

I have practiced and studied Tibetan Buddhism in the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions since the early 1970s, and have a good knowledge of theory, history and of the struggles of trying to practice the teachings, including meditation, while leading a normal, modern life. I am also available to provide background information for journalists.

Experience

I have been a practitioner since the early 1970s; have run a small Buddhist centre in the English Midlands and was vice-president of Kagyu Benchen Ling e.V. in Germany, for whom I managed three large Buddhist summer-camps. More importantly, I maintain a habit of personal practice. I am the "owner" of the Kagyu list at Yahoo.

Education/Credentials
My first degree was an M.A. from Oxford. I later obtained a Master of Philosophy degree for a research thesis in "Initiation in Tibetan Buddhism" from Leicester University. I also have engineering and educational qualifications.
