Question
Hello. Is it possible to travel to tibet an live there and become monk? my religion is orthadox. Sorry for bad spelling.

Answer
Hi Nikolajs,

I don't know whether China will allow you to do that.  But I know that even if you could, you would have to think about the following questions:
1. Can you be comfortable with the Tibetan culture and tradition?
2. Can you be comfortable with the tough lifestyle and living conditions.  Maybe the climate poses no problem to you.
3. How much do you know what you are going into, by becoming a monk in the Tibetan tradition, which is very deep in Tibetan rites and rituals?
4. What about the food?

On another note, today is the full moon day of the month of Vesakha which corresponds with the month of May.

It is Wesak Day, the day The Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and the day he passed away.

Buddhists observe this day with gratitude to the Buddha for what he had taught them :

To be contented and to live in peace with oneself, with the society and with nature.

Take care.
