Question
If you choose to become a buddhist, can you still be a christian? To me buddhism is more of a way to live a good and pure life. I still believe in god.
Hi Isa,
You can live a good and pure life even without adhering to any religion. Should you choose to be part of a religion, then you would have to agree with its concepts, otherwise there is no point in wanting to become a part of that religion.
A lot of Buddhists concepts are alien to other religions. However, Buddhism does not compel anyone to accept its concepts. Only if you can feel comfortable to practise the teachings of the Buddha, would you want to become a Buddhist. By "becoming a Buddhist" means the commitment to follow only the Buddhist Path.

I was brought up in the 50's as a Buddhist. For the past 40 years I have read numerous books on Buddhism and listened to numerous talks on Buddhism by well-respected and learned monks and lay teachers. I conduct Buddhist classes for parents of Sunday School children in a Theravada Buddhist Temple.
