Buddhists/four noble truths

Question
In your years of teaching and studying how would you say that the Four Noble Truths prepare you for the state of nirvana.

Answer
Hi Josh,

It is not an easy question to answer.  It is difficult to judge oneself.  Each individual has brought with him/her a combination of good and bad kamma from previous existence.  If I were to judge for myself, then I would have to say some unkind words to myself. From my years of living life; now that I am 60 years old; I would say I still have a very very long way to go.  The only consolution is that at least the Four Noble Truths have led me to the right path.  I am just starting on the long journey.  I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel yet.

The Four Noble Truths have pointed out to me the realities of existence, its unpredictability and unsatisfactoriness. I am less deluded in that sense. This leads me to live a more contented and peaceful life.

This much I can say for myself.

Take care.
