Question
Hey there Justin, I am working on a research paper for my English Honors high school class. I decided to research the central beliefs of Buddhism.
The only thing that I would like to know is:
How similar is Buddhism to other religions?

Answer
Hi Daniela,

In fact if you were to ask the opposite question, I may be able to give you a long answer.  But similarities? I am afraid there isn't much. I can go on writing about the similarities like a typical politician; but this would not be truthful of me. On a bigger picture, if all religions claim to be agents of love and peace, then this is the similarity.  But is it? Take a look at the world today.

I was brought up in the 50's as a Buddhist. For the past 40 years I have read numerous books on Buddhism and listened to numerous talks on Buddhism by well-respected and learned monks and lay teachers. I conduct Buddhist classes for parents of Sunday School children in a Theravada Buddhist Temple. My teacher was the late Chief Reverend, The Ven.
